Quilt & Art Exhibition and Seniors’ Tea
Local Artists Draw Large Crowd for Tea
MARATHON, ON – Friday, July 9th and Saturday, July 10th many visited the Lake View Community Hall, over looking the bay which opens to Lake Superior, for an Art and Quilt Exhibition complimented by a Seniors Tea and Dessert.
The event’s coordinators; Laura Comeau for the artists, Laurel Royal for the Marathon Superior Quilters’ Group, and Ellie Cooper for the Seniors who hosted the Tea & Dessert were thrilled to report and excellent turn out on both days. Day one even saw 6 visitors welcomed as the stopped in on their way to Manitoba.
A wonderful variety of quilts kept people entranced as they examined the fine detail of each handmade piece, the result of hours upon hours of work. The art on display was equally popular, many pieces depicting life or landscapes unique to the Marathon area.
Summerfest Chairman Andre Paris, and Mayor Rick Dumas were just two of the many who spent much time admiring the handywork each expressing their appreciation to organizers of the event and the artists whose quilting, paintings and prints were on display.
