Nipigon Mayor Enters Federal Politics
Richard Harvey To seek Conservative Nomination
THUNDER BAY, ON – Nipigon Mayor Richard Harvey announced yesterday that he is seeking nomination for the federal Conservative Party for Thunder Bay – Superior North riding.
In last year’s nomination race, Harvey narrowly lost against Mike Auld who has recently stepped down due to health concerns.

Harvey believes that constituents of Thunder Bay-Superior North are are “looking for a positive change” citing the example of Kenora’s federal riding where Conservative MP Greg Rickford is very popular.
Greg Rickford, MP for Kenora, has enthusiastically endorsed Harvey in his nomination. “Richard is exactly the type of candidate we are looking for in Thunder Bay- Superior North. Over the past number of years I have had the opportunity to work closely with Richard in his role as Mayor of Nipigon. Richard brings tremendous experience to the table, he has strong ties to the city of Thunder Bay and the surrounding region and is very well versed on matters regional and national in scope” said Rickford.
Riding President Michael Picard believes there has been a growing interest in the Conservative Party in Thunder Bay-Superior North and therefore, expects the nomination race will be tight. “As President I am thrilled to have someone with the experience and profile of Mayor Harvey entering the nomination and believe he would make an excellent candidate.”
