Internationally Acclaimed Artist Performs at Pic Mobert Campgrounds

PIC MOBERT, ON – Last night, July 28th, approximately 300 area residents, from Mobert, White River, Pic River, Manitouwadge and Marathon, gathered at the Pic Mobert Pow Wow Campground site on the shores of the White River to enjoy a performance by internationally renowned artist, C-Weed with opening act Broken Jimmy from Marathon.

Admission was a monetary donation for the food bank which raised approximately $300 cash in addition to two large, garbage can size, bins of non-perishable food.  The Pic Mobert First Nations Food Bank will have its Grand re-Opening, as part of the new Pic Mobert Health Centre, this morning, Thursday, July 28th.

The Campgrounds have been active all week as Band Leaders and residents of Mobert celebrate Community Week, a tradition which has been revived this year with great success.  Throughout the week there have been community meals, a spaghetti supper, community breakfasts, Sunrise Ceremonies, family and children’s games, Teaching Circles and much more.

Community week comes to a head this weekend, culminating with Mobert’s Annual Pow Wow.  Now in its 24th year, the Pow Wow  is a great family weekend celebrating tradition and culture.  All are welcome to the Pow Wow, if traveling East from Thunder Bay, the Pow Wow Campgrounds are left off Hwy 17,  just minutes past the Pic Mobert First Nations turn off, watch for the billboards on Hwy 17 at the campground entrance.
