Baseball Canada Announces the Final Roster
Baseball Canada announces today the final roster for the World Junior Baseball Championship in Thunder Bay from July 23-August 1.
The 20-man roster has no shortage of prospects. Leading the way is Kellin Deglan (Langley, BC) who was selected by the Texas Rangers in this past June’s draft, 22nd overall. Other player’s of note include Evan Grills (Whitby, ON) who is the only member of the JNT that has previously played in a World Junior Championship (Edmonton, 2008).
“I think we should be a top-5 team again,” says JNT Head Coach Greg Hamilton (Ottawa, ON). “We’re a team that should get to the quarter-finals and be very competitive. When you get to that game anything can happen and hopefully we’ll be playing for a medal.”
The Canadians will begin their quest for gold on Friday, July 23th, when they take on the Netherlands at Port Arthur Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
