Baseball Canada Announces the Final Roster

Baseball Canada announces today the final roster for the World Junior Baseball Championship in Thunder Bay from July 23-August 1.

The 20-man roster has no shortage of prospects. Leading the way is Kellin Deglan (Langley, BC) who was selected by the Texas Rangers in this past June’s draft, 22^nd overall. Other player’s of note include Evan Grills (Whitby, ON) who is the only member of the JNT that has previously played in a World Junior Championship (Edmonton, 2008).

“I think we should be a top-5 team again,” says JNT Head Coach Greg Hamilton (Ottawa, ON). “We’re a team that should get to the quarter-finals and be very competitive. When you get to that game anything can happen and hopefully we’ll be playing for a medal.”

The Canadians will begin their quest for gold on Friday, July 23th, when they take on the Netherlands at Port Arthur Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
