Aerial Video Manitouwadge Area
MANITOUWADGE, ON – The videos below are a follow-up on an article about the economic benefits to Northshore communities when groups such as the Hydro-One team which performed regularly scheduled brush clearance/line maintenance of the Hydro line which serves Manitouwadge continuing through to end in Hornepayne are stationed in these towns for work. The work was done over approximately one month during which time Manitouwadge and the Manitouwadge Municipal Airport served as ‘base’ to the team of approximately 25 workers, their helicopter pilot and project coordinator Glenn Rivard, Forestry Services Hydro One.
All of the videos offer a bird’s eye view of the Manitouwadge area travelling to about 10 minutes (flight) outside the neighbouring community of Marathon; the last video includes a landing (there were 4 similar landings, near or below the hydro lines, during our travels the morning of the flight) under the hydro lines, something done only by the most highly skilled and extensively trained helicopter pilots for obvious safety reasons.
The pilot who flew the helicopter in these videos underwent extensive education and training with Hydro One before being deemed qualified to do so; UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DOES HydroOne EVER CONDONE OR PERMIT ANYONE OTHER THAN THEIR OWN HIGHLY SKILLED AND SPECIALY TRAINED PILOTS ATTEMPTING TO FLY OR LAND ANYWHERE IN OR NEAR THE AREAS SHOWN IN THESE VIDEOS as this would be incredibly dangerous were it not for the hours of specialized education and training undergone by Hydro One helicopter pilots before they are permitted to perform such flights or landings.
