Educational Adventures

by Karina Hunter

MANITOUWADGE, ON – June 1st, 2010 – Yesterday morning, students from PAD 30 or the Grade 11/12 Northern Studies Class at Manitouwadge High School, set off on the adventure of a lifetime.

Lead by their teacher, Gord Martin, ** students each with waterproof barrel back-packs, helmets, and PFDs in tow, loaded up on a school bus that would take them to White Lake.  From their they would spend 5 days canoeing and portaging, eventually transferring to Lake Superior before ending their journey at Pukaskwa National Park.

The lone female student, Sierra Martin, seemed to fit in just fine and, having spent much time in the wilds of Manitouwadge and area with her parents, not at all intimidated by the challenges that lay ahead.

Good luck to all the students, this will no doubt be a trip you will remember fondly for years to come!
