MISCHIEF TO CP RAIL EQUIPMENT

(CHAPLEAU, ON) – On June 16, 2010 Superior East OPP in Chapleau received a complaint from Canadian Pacific Rail staff advising that sometime over the past three days property and equipment had been spray painted. Propane Tanks, box cars and in particular, electronic switch equipment and signal boxes were sprayed. These signal boxes alert the train crews as to whether the tracks are clear or not. Spray painting these signals renders the signals inoperable and could cause a dangerous situation to the crew as well as the public.
