Hand Drawn/Photography Contest Nearing End
BARRICK – HEMLO – 25th Aniversary HAND DRAWN & PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 2010
Those wanting to enter in Barrick Hemlo’s 25th Anniversary Hand Drawn & Photography Contest should note that the deadline is quickly approaching.
This contest is for hand drawn pictures as well as photographs that represent mining. Contest entries must include a completed entry form. The entry form must accompany each photograph or drawing submitted, even if the photographer or drawer submits more than one photo. Background information is required for archiving. 1. The photo contest runs from May 7th through to June 25th, 2010. Entries must be received by the contest closing date of June 25th, 2010. The Company nor the people organizing the 25 year celebrations for this contest will not be responsible for entries that are lost, late, delayed, misdirected, unintelligible, illegible, incomplete, postage due, stolen, returned, separated, damaged, or undeliverable entries or mail. Winners will be announced on June 30th, 2010.
2. There is no limit to the number of entries per person. Each submission must include a separate entry form (or a reproduction of facsimile.) Photos containing identifiable people must also be accompanied by a model release form. Model releases are the responsibility of the entrant and must be available in the event the photo is a winner. Numerous entries do not need to be mailed in separate envelopes.
3. All entries must be in high resolution digital format. The original file resolution must be a minimum of 3.1 megapixels. Compositional changes to digital files are not acceptable and will be disqualified; tonal or colour cast corrections are acceptable. For all entries, original material must be available for reproduction purposes. All entries and contest materials received become property of the contest organizers and will not be returned.
4. Photographers wishing to submit several entries can do so by burning photographs on to a disc. Note that every entry requires a separate entry form and should be labeled accordingly.
(ie: How it represents mining _PhotographersName_01, How it represents mining _PhotographersName_02, etc.)
5. To be considered in the contest, all submissions must be original, unpublished photographs and or hand drawn pictures that represent mining.
6. By signing the 2010 Barrick – Hemlo Photo Contest entry form, the contestant grants the sponsors the unrestricted and exclusive rights to use photograph(s) for any purpose. This includes, but is not limited to, publishing your photograph(s) / drawing in print or electronic form for promotional purposes without further compensation, and the right to use the photographers name as a credit along with the photograph or drawing. The photographer / drawer must own all rights to any photographs / drawings entered in this contest. It is the responsibility of the contestant to ensure that publication of the photographs / drawings raises no legal claims. Accordingly, you hereby agree to compensate the sponsors fully regarding any claims arising out of the use of your photograph(s) / drawing(s). Photograph(s) / drawing(s) previously published in full or in part in other publications, contests etc, will be disqualified.
7. It is encouraged that photographers / drawers represent as many different aspects of mining when drawing or capturing images. As part of the entry form, it is mandatory to list what part of mining that you are representing.
8. Winners names and as many of the winning photographs as space permits, are scheduled to be published on the 2011 Barrick – Hemlo calendar.
9. The categories will be as follows:
Adult – Aged 20 and Up, Teen – Aged 13-19, Children – Aged 12 and Under
Pictures must represent mining: Examples – Woman in Mining, Milling, Pit Operations, Underground Mining, Mining Equipment, Administration, Students in Mining, etc.
Hand Drawn Pictures:
ü Same rules apply to both photography and hand drawn pictures.
ü Must be clearly drawn to be able to be scanned.
ü Limit number of colors as much as possible.
ü Ensure to sign bottom of your drawn picture.
ü Complete required forms same as photo contest.
Eligibility
The Barrick – Hemlo Photo Contest is open to all our employees and any member of the family as defined by the benefit coverage.
Judging
A panel of professional judges will judge Eligible entries. All decisions of the Contest judges are final.
By signing the entry form, the participant consents to entry of his or her submission and agrees to these Official Rules and Regulations and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all matters to this contest.
