Parks Officially OPEN!
McGuinty Government Officially Opens 2010 Parks Season
Most Ontario Parks will open on Friday, May 14, 2010.
Visitors will find a range of recreational and educational activities in the parks. For example, they can:
- Go on a boat tour in Bon Echo Provincial Park north of Napanee
- Catch an early morning panfish in the sheltered Lake Ontario waters of Darlington Provincial Park near Toronto
- Enjoy a day-picnic at Fushimi Lake Provincial Park near Hearst
- Rent a four-bedroom Victorian home at Sandbanks Provincial Park near Picton
- Go on an overnight adventure by canoe or kayak in Killarney Provincial Park.
QUICK FACTS
- There are 329 provincial parks in Ontario and more than 100 provide visitor facilities.
- Last year, 9.5 million visits were made by people from around the world to Ontario Parks. Many Ontario Parks provide barrier-free facilities.
- There is an 11-day ban on the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in 44 provincial parks starting on May 14.
