OPP DRUG SEIZURE IN MARATHON
OPP DRUG SEIZURE STREET VALUE ESTIMATED AT $34 000
MARATHON, ON – On Tuesdaya, May 18th, 2010 at approximately 1:00pm, officers responded to a complaint of a family dispute in progress at 45 Aspendale Drive in the Town of Marathn.
Upon arrival the investigation revealed that an assault had taken place and that there was believed to be a marihuana grow operation in the residence. The owner of the home David BERNHART age 57, was arrested for assault.
A search warrant under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act was applied for and granted to search the entire residence. As a result of the warrant and the seizure of marihuana plants and loose marihuana with an estimated street value of $34 000 Mr. Bernhardt faces the following charges:
- Possession of a substance included in Schedule 2 – Cannabis marihuana ovr 30g – Sec 4(1) CDSA
- Assault – Sec 266 CC
- Porduction of a substance included in Schedule 2 – Cannabis marihuana – Sec 7(1) CDSA
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a substance included in Schedule 2 – Cannabis arihuana ovr 3 kilograms – Sec 5(2) CDSA
Mr. Bernhardt was released from custdy after a show cause hearing with a court date of the 17th of June 2010 in the Town ofo Marathon to speak to the charges.
