Ontario Classrooms Get Online Access To NFB Films
McGuinty Government Promotes More Canadian Content
All students and educators in Ontario now have free, online access to award-winning Canadian films from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).
Through an agreement between the government and NFB, Ontario classrooms can now access the Screening Room, an online resource featuring 1,500 productions including full-length films, trailers and clips for all ages, in both French and English. These can be viewed online by students and teachers to learn more about Canada’s culture and history.
QUICK FACTS
- Previously, each school board had to pay for and order films and other productions from the NFB.
- Ontario was the second province to reach an agreement with NFB to provide students and teacher with access to the Screening Room. British Columbia, New Brunswick and the Yukon also have agreements in place.
- The NFB was founded in 1939 and has created more than 13,000 productions and won over 5,000 awards.
