by Elaine Milks
After weeks of dedication and determination from players and coaches of Manitouwadge High School’s Girls and Boys Soccer Teams, both teams traveled to Wawa where the North Shore Secondary School Athletic Association (NSSSAA) Semi-Finals were to be held.
On May 11th, 2010, Manitouwadge High School’s (MHS) Girls Soccer Team played two games against École Secondaire Trillium of Chapleau and Michipicoten High School of Wawa. The Girls lost both games with scores, 2-0 (Trillium) and 1-0 (Michipicoten) but continued to play with perseverance.
The same day the Boys of MHS Wolverines walked away with a tie and a loss against Michipicoten, 1-1 and Trillium, 1-4. On day two, May 12th, the Girls’ hard work paid off as they won against École Secondaire l’Orée des Bois with a score of 2-1. Following the win, the boys took on St. Joseph’s High School of Wawa with a close game of 1-2 and Dubreuiville with an even closer game of 2-2.
MHS’ Boys Soccer team finished with two ties and two losses while the girls finished with two losses and a win. Manitouwadge High School soccer teams demonstrated tremendous effort and drive.
Special “Thank You” to all the coaches who committed their time to both teams, we look forward to another great season next year!
