Marine Contractor Pleads Guilty
Dredging Shorelands on Lake Simcoe Proves Costly
A Thorah Island landowner and a marine contractor pled guilty to dredging a boat slip on the shorelands of Lake Simcoe.
Court heard that on October 22, 2008, conservation officers observed a boat slip that was excavated without the authority of a work permit from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Steven Longman of Stouffville was fined $1,500 and Michael Woodrow of Willow Beach was fined $1,000 for their part in this offence.
Justice of the Peace E. Massiah heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Whitby, on May 5, 2010.
