Manitouwadge Cleans House

Spring Clean-up week in Manitouwadge

by Karina Hunter

Spring Clean-up Week continued in Manitouwadge today as Public Works several employees traveled Neebig Ave. with a loader, operated by Jody Hachey and dump truck to collect items residents had put to the curb.

This is a great opportunity to prepare our town to look its best as tourists, friends and family will soon begin their summer visits, use this week to rake winter debris from your lawn and trim hedges or trees as you can pile any materials collected while doing so in neat piles beside the roadway. You are asked to arrange separate piles for any scrap metal or wood. Arranging pick-up of old car bodies or bulky white metal appliances is easy; simply call Public Works at 826-3227 ext 230 during regular business hours.

Though the men had been working diligently, they did stop long enough to humour me with a photo.

A few things to remember, residents are reminded that each street will only be done once, please do not put additional items to the curb once pick up has been done on your street. Household Hazardous Waste Collection will NOT be held in conjunction with this week’s spring clean-up services; do save all hazardous waste as this collection will be at a later date.  Hachey also reminded residents that regular household garbage will not be picked up “The service provided to residents is intended to assist with items not normally collected on regular Garbage Day”said Hachey explaining that regular household waste was also on the list of items the crew would not be removing from curbsides.
