May 27, 2010 |
An Ontario company was fined $1,200 for unlawfully providing bear hunting services.
The company, 1584864 Ontario Limited, was fined for providing black bear hunting services without a licence. Additional charges relating to the case were withdrawn by the Crown as part of a negotiated guilty plea.
The Court heard that 1584864 Ontario Limited provided black bear hunting services to two non-resident hunters between August 28 and September 1, 2009 in the Hornepayne area. Conservation officers determined that three of the hunting locations used were outside of the Bear Management Area for which the outfitter was licensed.
The case was heard by Justice of the Peace Guy Maurice on May 17, 2010 in the Ontario Court of Justice, Hornepayne.
Bear Management Areas are defined areas of Crown land licensed to an outfitter for providing bear hunting services to non-resident bear hunters.
