Dubreuilville Geocache Challenge wraps up

by Karina Hunter

Planting the caches.

From April 16th to 25th, in the Dubreuilville ATV Club’s 1st Geocache Challenge, 39 adults and 18 children, explored the forests surrounding Dubreuilville, GPS in hand, searching for 5 caches that had been planted by club president, Danny Vallieres.

Upon registration, geocachers would receive the coordinates for their first
cache, they would then set out some via ATV others using a combination of
hiking and driving their regular vehicles.  Finding the first cache, they would sign their name and take the coordinates for the next, until having successfully found all five cache boxes. Many participants had never before participated in a geocache event and have since joined the Geocaching movement, creating profiles on www.Geocaching.com

Sunday, April 25th, Vallieres collected the cache boxes, bringing them back to the Pub & Resto where prizes would be distributed, but not until having tallied all the entries. To be entered into either the adult draw, which consisted of the winner’s choice between either a Genmate 1000Kwatt Generator or a certificate towards registration for the club’s upcoming Father’s Day Walleye Derby (a $180 Value**); or the children’s draw for a Fishing rod and tackle combo.  All participating teams, but one, were successful in finding all five caches.

Winners of the Dubreuilville ATV Club’s 1st Geocache Challenge were Berthier Chabot who chose registration in the fish derby, a $180 value, as his prize and for the kids 3 year old Benoit Nantel took the prize.

Berthier Chabot receives his Fish Derby Registration Certificate from Danny Vallieres.
