This week at MPS
MANITOUWADGE PUBLIC SCHOOL
Our earth was the focus of the day at MPS on April 22nd because the students were reminded by staff (and each other!) that we get one planet to live on and it is up to them to make it last! This day was officially Earth Day worldwide and our students were excited to take part in a ‘Litterless Lunch Day’.
They were challenged to have a lunch that day that produced absolutely no garbage to be left at the school or taken home. We were impressed that approximately 85% of the students who ate lunch at school that day qualified to be part of a draw for prizes because of their conscientious efforts to be litter free. Throughout the day classes donned gloves and went to designated spots in the school yard where they did a spectacular job of picking up garbage that had found its way on the grounds throughout the winter. In these pictures we see students from just one of the lunchrooms displaying their litterless lunch containers and students from the grade 6 / 7 class cleaning up the school yard and the JK/SK/1 students disposing their filled garbage bags in the dumpster.
Every student is commended for their ongoing displays of being all around good citizens. Doesn’t acts like this by our young people make our future look a little brighter!!
