Technology in Terrace Bay School
Interactive Classroom For Northern Students
McGuinty Government Helping Students Succeed, Supporting Business Development
Touch screens, customizable toolbars, projectors and speakers are among many new interactive tools that may help engage more students in Northern Ontario.
Through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), Northern Computers & Communications in Terrace Bay will now promote Promethean’s ActivClassroom products across the North and tailor the content for school board requirements.
The products provide an interactive learning environment for students of all ages and ability. This will help increase student participation in, and understanding of, curriculum. Helping more students excel in school and supporting business development are key components of the Open Ontario plan to create an educated workforce and new economic opportunities throughout Northern Ontario.
QUICK FACTS
• The NOHFC is providing $44,651 to this project under its Emerging Technology Program.
• NCC provides IT services and products to home users, the public and private sectors along the north shore of Lake Superior.

From the Editor: Parents of Our Lady Of Lourdes (Manitouwadge) Elementary School will recognize the Promethean ActivLearning products as OLOL has a family night every year when parent & children team up and go through a series of stations using the Promethean equipment to create a story in the computer lab which they narrate and animate on a giant screen in another room and then get to watch what they’ve created. In 2 other stations there are face-offs of parents vs. students or families vs. families using the Promethean voting modules – GREAT FUN!
