Rob Dyer Hit by Car

Rob Dyer by Erin Hogue April 2010

For those of you who follow the weekly videos of Skate 4 Cancer which I post here, I have received bad news from Erin Hogue (photographer who shot Rob’s canadian skate including his travels through Nortwestern Ontario www.erinhogue.com/blog ):

Rob has been side swiped by a car. He was hurt pretty bad and instructed not to walk let alone skateboard for at least six weeks. Due to the severity of the injury Rob has been forced to return to Canada. Luckily, I was able to meet up with him, for a few hours, before he left to find out exactly what happened ( http://erinhogue.com/s4cblog/ ).

ABOUT THE ACCIDENT from www.ErinHogue.com/s4cBlog

“the risks of skateboarding on the highway for numerous days on end have always been high,

and until 2 days ago we have been able to avoid any serious problems; unfortunately, this luck ran out a bit. while skateboarding on a desolate stretch of road 300km north of Adelaide, Rob was side-swiped by a car. for the most Rob is fine however he has pulled his groin pretty badly and at this point is unsure when he will be able to get back on his board.

i am scheduled to meet up with the boys in Adelaide tomorrow after which i will have a better idea of what we will do next. at this point i am just happy that it was not something more serious.

until then check out this video and help Skate4Cancer get funding for the Toronto drop-in center.”

To see hospital pics and read a great interview with Rob about the accident, skate4cancer and the Toronto Drop-in centre visit:

I will continue to follow Rob’s recovery (which will no doubt be as quick as possible), our prayers go out to you Rob, looking forward to continue to live vicariously through your international adventures as you bring Cancer Awareness & Prevention messages to people across the world.
