NOMA BEGINS
by Karina Hunter
Municipal leaders, provincial and federal dignitaries gathered in Marathon yesterday (April 21) evening for a Welcome Reception at the Zero-100 Banquet Room kicking off the 2010 Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association’s (NOMA) 64th Annual General Meeting and Conference.
The theme for this year’s conference, which will continue through Saturday April 24th, is “Success in the Municipal Marathon”. Anne Krassilowsky, 2009-10 President and Mayor of Dryden welcomed those attending with the following message:
“Welcome Honourable Ministers, Delegates, Sponsors
and Friends to the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association 64th Annual General Meeting and Conference!
On behalf of our members it is my pleasure to express our appreciation to our host community, the Town of Marathon, Mayor Rick Dumas and the Conference team have given their very best to ensure successful conference and to sharing their exceptional hospitality.
“Success in the Municipal Marathon” is a theme that recognizes that the “achievement for municipalities” is an exercise in time, patience and perseverance in order to see our efforts through to fruition. Our success is much more achievable in partnership with Provincial and Federal Governments and we ara pleased that the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation has seen an increase in funding level to Ninety Million dollars. Keep up the great lobbying efforts for matching FedNor dollars. This would greatly enhance the potential for success with entrepreneurial partners who want to commit to job creation in our communities.
We look forward to sharing your Infrastructure accomplishments and success stories!
On bhalaf of the NOMA Board of Directors it is our pleasure
to introduce you to our Executive Director Ms. Charla Rosbinson. This is Charla’s first NOMA conference and her hard work has been outstanding! Be sure to get Charla’s ocntact information!
Our Conferenc agenda is full and informative; our keynote
