If you make it, they will come!
Spaghetti Supper sells out!
by Karina Hunter
The Catholic Women’s Society (CWS) volunteers held a Spaghetti Supper tonight (April 10th) which drew a very impressive crowd to the basement of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
Continuing with their recent plans to put the parish hall into regular use, the Spaghetti Supper was also a fundraiser helping to offset the myriad of costs associated with the church and activities which the CWS sponsors. As of Friday, the evening preceding the feast, only 50 tickets had been sold, no record breaker but it would be worth the CWS’s effort none the less as any funds help.
Supper began being served at 5:30pm and as the smell of spaghetti sauce wafted out the church’s lower level doors, hungry Manitouwadge residents flooded in to enjoy spaghetti, Caesar salad, warm buns, refreshments and a very impressive, and varied, spread of desserts. Within fifteen minutes, CWS member Kathleen Cormier, who worked the door for the evening, had to go outside to post a SOLD OUT sign in the church parking lot as the 110 chairs available had all been filled!
The CWS may have had a very successful event tonight but a volunteer’s work is never done; visit www.OntarioNewsNorth.com later this week as an announcement will be made in regards to the ladies’ next, innovative and exciting fundraiser! The CWS and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish would like to thank those who came out to enjoy Saturday’s Spaghetti Supper.
