Franco-Ontarian Day

September 25 Is Now Franco-Ontarian Day

McGuinty Government Supporting Francophone Community

September 25 is now Franco-Ontarian Day in the province of Ontario.

The Franco-Ontarian Day Act adopted unanimously today by the Legislative Assembly proclaims September 25 of each year as Franco-Ontarian Day. This Day will, every year, officially recognize the contribution of Ontario’s Francophone community to the cultural, historical, social, economic and political life of the province.

Ontario has been working hard since 2003 to support strong communities; the proclamation of September 25th each year as Franco-Ontarian Day is an additional step in this direction.

QUICK FACTS

  • September 25th is the anniversary of the first raising of the Franco-Ontarian Flag in 1975.
