Schreiber Town Council March 23
Pictured are Township of Schreiber Council and Committee of the Whole, as they look over plans for renovations to be made to the Public Works Garage with instruction from Township Superintendent Kal Pristanski (far right) in regards to details of the document, this was among many issues on the agenda at their regular meeting, March 23rd, 2010. Among the many issues on the agenda which were discussed by Mayor and Council were a Request Letter of Support from Red Rock Indian Band, the 125th Anniversary, a proposed ATV By-law, and thee Pays Plat First Nation Pow Wow; it was decided that the Pays Plat Pow Wow would be advertised through Schreiber’s website as was done in 2009.
Motions passed during this meeting include;
- That the minutes of the Schreiber Public Library
Board meeting held January 14th, 2010 be accepted - That council formally request a six month extension
to the current letter of Intent with Dongara
Inc. with regard to establishing
water palletizing facility within the Township of Schreiber - That thee North Shore Singers bee approved for a
grant in aid in the amount of 255 for the use of the recreation hall on
May 28h, 2010 - That Council approve the appointment of Dave McKay (Chairperson),
Jeanne McKay, Heather Nesbitt, Nella Commisso, Shannon Morgan, Nancy Houston, Tosha Borutski, Joyc Reid, Doug Hunt, Audrey Morgan, Barb McLaughlin, Colleen Gauthier, Cathy Lengyel and Linda Jackson to the Schreiber Heritage Days Committee for the year 2010 - That Council concur with resolution REC-010-0 of the Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee and endorsee the attached letter from the North Shore Family Health Team and that registered participants in the Biggest Loser Challenge, be given a 50% reduction in fitness room memberships for the duration of the challenge, April 16th to July 18th, 2010
There was much discussion in regards to the passing of each motion as Mayor and Council exercised due diligence, weighing the consequences each motion might possibly incur to residents and/or the Township of Schreiber if they were (or were not) carried. The only unfortunate circumstance to be noted at this meeting was a lack of publicinterest as I was the only member of the general public in attendance. Council continued the remainder of the
meeting in closed session as is accepted when circumstances require.
