A 73 year old Manitouwadge resident wasn’t looking for parts for his 2003 Dodge Dakota but may need some after this morning’s incident.  He allegedly drove through the store front of Napa Auto Parts in Manitouwadge yesterday at approximately 10:30am when it is believed that he accidentally hit the accelerator attempting to park his vehicle. One Napa staff member and two customers were at the service counter when the pickup truck came crashing through the window, hitting the counter which, along with displays and merchandise shelving, was pushed across the showroom floor. Neither of the three women hit by the counter, nor the driver, were injured.

Fire crews and police arrived within moments of the accident and Constable Perry Jackson of the Ontario Provincial Police credited the Manitouwadge Volunteer Fire Department with having cleared the debris very promptly.  Napa owner, Andy Major, was taking it in stride “It isn’t everyday a truck comes through a storefront in Manitouwadge” said Major adding “I was relieved that no one was hurt”.  Constable Jackson reported that the investigation was ongoing with charges pending though he did confirm that
alcohol was not a factor.
