Copper Kings IP1’s represent
by Karina Hunter
The Copper Kings played hard, most needing to be convinced to come off the ice when needing to break.
Manitouwadge was well represented January 23rd as the Copper Kings IP1 team traveled to Terrace Bay to participate in a Minor Hockey Jamboree. Teams from Manitouwadge, Marathon, Terrace Bay, and Schreiber gathered to develop their skills while learning about fair play, sportsmanship and teamwork. Coaches Karly and Aaron Baker were very proud of the team; Tiffany Bellerose, Evan Glaister, Eric Glaister, Sawyer Hatton, Evn Labbée, Ciara Robinson, Keegan Schmidt, Mason Plourde, and Emeraude Charron took to the ice during two games, facing off against Terrace Bay in the morning and then Marathon’s Green Team in the afternoon. The young stars, 4 to 6 years of age, skated hard showing off their puck handling and skating skills throughout their two 30 minute games.
This was the team’s 2nd tournament of the year, having participated in a Jamboree in Marathon earlier in the season. Having been given loot bags upon their arrival at the Terrace Bay Community Centre Arena, the players were also presented with medals at the end of their 2nd game.

Keep in mind that while these players are physically significantly smaller than their NHL heros, the arenas they play in are not proportionally smaller making the amount of skating they do in a game quite impressive.

Emeraude, willing to be pretty much anywhere on the ice if Mr.Baker is by her side.
