Pictured are Legionnaires left to right are Ron Sheppard, James Thomson an Lou Budgell with CEO Judy Harris ready to deliver poinsettias, also known as Christmas flowers, to patients in long-term and acute care at the Manitouwadge General Hospital. This is the first year Royal Canadian Legion Branch 242 has made the thoughtful donation, with co-sponsor Rouselle’s Valu Mart, they intend to return next year hoping to make the delivery an annual event. Poinsettias are a popular choice for Christmas flowers as they tend to be very rugged, forgiving plants and could easily be sprucing up the patients’ rooms well into the New Year. Experts suggest if you keep a poinsettia year after year, providing long dark nights during the winter months will help it regain it’s red hues come the holidays.
