Legionnaires recognized for their service
Legion Remembrance Supper
by Karina Hunter
Pictured are the Legionnaires who received service pins (recognizing between 25 and 45 years of service) during the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 242’s Annual Remembrance Supper in Manitouwadge November 10th. In attendance at the special evening were members and associate members as well as special guests which included local clergy, municipality staff and school principals. The presentation of service pins was just one of the ceremonies which took place this evening; another was the inauguration of a new legionnaire who swore his allegiance to the group and his country before those in attendance also promising, as all Legion Members do, to serve his community.
If you would like to become a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and have the opportunity to make new friends, become involved with your community and develop and share leadership skills, speak to a local member or visit www.legion.ca. Associate membership is available, under special circumstances, to persons who have not served in the Armed Forces or other branches of Her Majesty’s Forces and details of this and other membership levels are available on the website. By joining The Royal Canadian Legion you will help to perpetuate the Remembrance of those who
gave so much for the freedom and prosperity we enjoy today.
