H1N1 Clinic in Mtwdge

Student Flu Clinic at MGH a success

by Karina Hunter

After overwhelming response to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s Flu Clinics held at Manitouwadge High School October 27th the Manitouwadge Medical Clinic which had a minimal supply of H1N1 vaccine announced that they would be offering a clinic for students at the Manitouwadge General Hospital (MGH).  Monday, November 2nd 119 people were administered the H1N1 vaccine at MGH as a joint effort of the Medical Clinic Doctors, Medical Students and Staff, volunteer RN’s, MGH and Auxiliary & Thunder Bay District Health Unit.  Eager recipients lined up an hour early and thanks to some incredible organization the clinic was started early.  A big thank you was expressed to Rhonna Neale, RN; Cathy Kelly, RN; Joanne Mayhew; Lindsey Bohtelo; Dr. Petersen; Dr. MacTavish and Public Health Nurse Jackie Jung, RN for giving their time to ensure this clinic was a success.

The next Flu Clinic for H1N1 and Seasonal Flu being held in Manitouwadge will be Tuesday, November 24th from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at the Theatre of  Manitouwadge High School.
