Suzie Vinnick, member of the Folk Trio to perform in Manitouwadge Monday night; part of their Nite on the Town Entertainment Series

Monday evening, Manitouwadge’s Nite on the Town Entertainment Series of the Arts is proud to host the folk trio of guitarist Wendell Ferguson, Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Guitarist of the Year from 1995 to 2001; Katherine Wheatley creator of Youthsongs, a songwriting and recording program for Canadian and U.S. schools; and Suzie Vinnick recipient of the 2008 Canadian Maple Blues Award for Female Vocalist of the Year to the auditorium (a.k.a. Theatre) of Manitouwadge High School. Organizers anticipate good attendance from surrounding communities as the group has only two Northshore performances, Manitouwadge and Geraldton, on this circuit which will end at Thunder Bay’s Sleeping Giant Folk Festival on November 14th. 

This is the 2^nd performance presented by Nite on the Town in the 2009/10
Series, the first was a monologue presented by Award Winning Playwright Julia Mackey as a tribute to the role that Canadian Veterans played in Juno Beach, France and was well received ending without a dry eye in the house.  The series is committed to bringing first class entertainment of a variety of genres to Manitouwadge enhancing the quality of life of Northshore residents by offering attendees the opportunity to enjoy performing arts not readily available in the region.

The group’s chairperson, Natalie Labbée, recently returned from attending Ontario Contact in Richmond Hill where Artists performing in all genres were showcased.  Sponsored by the Ontario Arts Council, the trip offered Labbée the opportunity to meet agents, performers and other presenters this assisted in planning of the 2010/11 Series which she promises will be an incredible Line-Up.
