my Work…
This week I will be covering an ATV ride which actually begins in Sault Ste. Marie where the participants will be loading thier bikes & getting on the ACR (Algoma Central Railway) with Bob Collins of Algoma Sled Tours (and obviously atv tours lol) to travel to Millwood. That’s where Willy Smith (Bristol Motel) and I will have taken the ATV’s to meet them. That night I believe we are staying in Wawa, at the Bristol. We will be leaving the next morning to ride out to Goudreau where Willy keeps his bear hunters.
So, Monday morning I will leave Manitouwadge, driving the Play in the Extreme, Honda Element which I am signing out from our EDC. I can’t wait and am going crazy organizing everything for the trip, finishing up articles for The Echo & the Chronicle Journal, preparing the kids, organizing the kids accomodations & supervision while I am gone. Sigh, so much to do. today was the Trappers’ Picnic and I will post photos & article from that perhaps later tonight when I wake or late tomorrow evening as the power is out tomorrow in Manitouwadge & we have the Terry Fox Run.
Emeraude worked so hard this week to raise money for the Terry Fox Run (see post about that at www.karinahunter.com/?p=5549 and www.karinahunter.com/?p=5538 the 2nd has links to progress reports that were posted with photos along the way 🙂 ) At bedtime tonight she had raised a total of
$1112.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation
and cancer research! ($165 online donations + $947 door-to-door, that’s alot of doors!!) One of the days, big brother Lloyd accompanied her to the Township office & downtown to collect pledges (they did great on that run getting around $100) She did such a wonderful job speaking to people, explaining what she was doing and why she was canvassing! I really am so proud of her. To top it off, she has decided she will be roller skating as much as she can of the 1km run course 🙂 I am really excited for her and proud of all she learned doing this (including what a difference one person can make!) She was really impressed (so was I and so was big brother Lloyd) that NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON said NO when she knocked on their door!!! What a special town Manitouwadge is!
