Emeraude and I get directions to diagnostics at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre.
At the beinning of the month, the kids and I travelled to Thunder Bay for an MRI appointment I had. I must be honest, I had alot of trouble being in the MRI as I had not take the prescription I have for anxiety attacks (ativan) and felt severely trapped and panicked especially as the machine attendants slid me in further. In any case, I made it through though once again, I have yet to have opportunity to look over this MRI with any health professional or have it explained to me (this has been the case with every MRI I’ve had except the first when my old family doc who unfortunately relocated just months after I was diagnosed with MS had been back in town as a locum and had taken the time to look over the MRI results and explain them to me).
getting closer, at this point I'm already getting nervous about what's ahead.
My MRI was at the
Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre and the kids accompanied me. While I was getting my MRI Lloyd brought Emeraude to get snacks, they were at a junk food machine when she told her brother “Mommy said no junk” a man standing nearby interjected that “Oh, rules are different when Daddy’s in charge” which had flattered Lloyd as he reasoned that he must be doing a good job if she was behaving well enough for people to assume he was her father lol. Sweet. (thankfully all this helping with sister has Lloyd assuring me he is in no hurry to become a father anytime in the next couple decades, I pray he keeps this in the front of his mind as he is getting older and dating).
Hospital halls all look the same, too sterile and bland, like walking down a tunnel in a bad dream.
The MRI forms, have you ever had a metal sliver in your eye? do you have tatoos? that last one shouldn't worry most people, they mean the old tattoos that used to be done in jails, these could have metallic principals which could get sucked out with the magnetic force of the MRI.
It was a long MRI. They had to restart once as I had moved too much (again, hard to avoid, this had nothing to do with my fear of being enclosed and everything to do with the regular pins and needles and pain in my legs), I spent the rest of the time praying and asking for God’s help which of course made all the difference in the world, calming me down and helping me to hold still.
Lloyd took these photos for me. Had he and his siter not been standing there, I might have made a run for it at this point.
my spine, side slice.
These are not a great old & new comparison as they are not the same slice but still a good shot of my brain MRI's.
