Sunday | Living with MS | Mtwdge
Happy Sunday everyone! Usually my Sunday posts come after worship but unfortunately, though I was in town this morning, we did not make it to worship. Needed to let the kids catch up on some sleep as well as being quite fatigued myself.
So, it’s been a busy week in Manitouwadge, and on the Northshore. Live From the Rock, Red Rock’s music festival took place this weekend. Had attended with Emeraude last year but with Wadgefest happening here this weekend, could not afford to be on vacation (plus my wallet probably couldn’t have handled more travel). Would love to hear about it or see some photos if there is anyone who attended willing to post, I’d be happy to give author priviledges, just email me! stayhome.mom@shaw.ca
Wadgefest ’09 seems to have gone very well. There was great turnout to most all the events (the arena wasn’t too busy when we arrived around 3:30 this afternoon but that had originally been scheduled for the Lion’s beach and the bbq outside for the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group seemed to be going well) and they all seemed very well organized (the only one off timing was the hospital and even then, not by a whole lot. I got the feeling they are used to running things more for those already involved than for anyone new though (at least I had a lot of trouble getting any information for the Chronicle and the group photo had issues as well though the group itself was very cooperative and good sports) which was a little dissapointing. The article and photos from that are here: www.karinahunter.com/?p=4809
I finally gave myself my B12 injection today, about a week late… It’s an IM (intra-muscular) injection and so takes some mental preparation for me to accept sticking a big needle into myself lol. Hopefully I will be feeling its effects soon as fatigue has been an increasingly disruptive issue in the last 7-10 days that I hope to get under control. The next few weeks don’t have any slow in pace scheduled for my family and I can’t afford to be dragging my heels quite so much.
on the agenda:
-
Emeraude Exploring: The Post Office photos to Canada Post for approval (my comp never did have a cd burning problem, it was the Bargain Shop’s cds
-
Request to OPP & Mtwdge ambulance for visit with a female constable and a female paramedic respectively (again for Emeraude Exploring collection)
-
finish adjusting Emeraude’s new jingle dress and talor mine as well submit at least a 1/2 dozen articles to the Chronicle Journal between now and Thursday to save funds for Lloyd’s vball camp trip
-
Anishnawbe Keeshigun for Emeraude & I on the weekend (this coming)
-
MRI in Thunder Bay on Sunday (actually, I’m hoping to have it changed to early Monday when I call tomorrow as the Powwow won’t be done yet on Sunday when the MRI is scheduled)
-
Transplant the last of our veggies outside w/Emeraude (maybe Lloyd will get into that with us too, that would be a bonus)
-
Emeraude starts swimming lessons tomorrow morning (brrr)
-
insurance over-charged my credit card by $100+ need to get to the bottom of that
-
prints should arrive tomorrow (the remainder) and I need to figure out who is in charge of the annual memorial golf tourney later this month about donating a print in exchange for some sale-space…
-
call accupuncturist about September appointments
-
-
-
certain there are many other things that absolutely had to be done tomorrow but can’t remember them at this point lol
So… other than being quite overwhelmed (I have yet to put ‘catch up on cleaning/organizing and everything house from the 7months I lost to the ER *grrr* on my list) living with MS is quite uneventful these days. As I mentioned I have an MRI this weekend and then will finally be starting the accupuncture in September (I hope) I am also waiting to have the port-a-cath removal scheduled as well and thought that would be for september but am running out of weeks in that month (Lloyd’s birthday is also in September of course – 15 years old… wow, not long before he takes off to start his own life and I feel like I missed on so much this winter with the ER none sense, such a shame don’t know if I will ever get over that one, hope to be making up for it somehow this year though I worry this may not be understood). My pain is still incredibly severe although a new doctor helps alot (less stress makes pain less difficult – srry, I can’t say ‘easier’ – to handle and accept) as I have had the opportunity to do some of the things I wanted to this summer (the week we lost at the beginning due to the last doc could never be re-captured as the weather never held out again after that week for more than a day or two at a time. I have vowed that once I am better I will take action to ensure this does not happen to another patient at MGH though right now I know of ppl fighting similar battles with no idea that they have rights to a life and I feel guilty that I am not currently in a position to initiate change.
Wadgefest was wonderful. A great pick-me-up for the whole town and we certainly needed it at this point. Will be posting articles & photos from that in the next few days.
Lloyd is still in a cast also. This Thursday we will see if the peice of bone that was floating has re-attached. He is homebound until then as he needs to heal for his vball camp (thunderwolves). I am a little nervous about the camp. I registered very late, not wanting to until I was certain I could afford it AND get him there (and stay there if we don’t find him somewhere to stay as we might have to camp it for the week for him to attend – that’s ok as this will make it a cool week for ‘lil sis’ as well ) so I don’t know if it went through just because of my credit card or if there is actually room.
Speaking of my credit card… any ideas on a gov’t service in July that could’ve billed for $60 even? I remember commenting on something being that price but am certain it was NOT a gov’t service and I did NOT pay by cc so cannot figure out what has been charged to my card – troublesome. WIll have to call that tomorrow as well I guess.
Those of you travelling back home having enjoyed Wadgefest, please travel safely, there is nothing important enough to risk your life with speeding. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves, if you have pics you’d like to share, email me and again, I will register you here with priviledges.:)
Take care everyone. As usual, Thank you for reading and prayers are appreciated. God bless you this week and in all you do.
