Manitouwadge cottagers need alternate route
Cottagers, anglers and hunters in Manitouwadge who usually take the Black River bridge to exit the community will soon need to find another route to access their favourite summer retreats as the bridge is scheduled to be shut down next week. Tentatively planned for August the bridge will be closed for about 10 days. I have contacted someone from Great West Timber for more details and will post when I receive these.
UPDATE:
Well, that was quick. I just received a call from the Manitouwadge MNR office. Apparently the work is now scheduled for the end of August. I was also given some additional information about what is going on. The bridge structure for the most part, will be kept as is, the repairs are to strengthen the abutments, there will be new cribbing and the top of the bridge will be resurfaced.
