Friends come home…
Well, kind of. I think they will come to call it home before much time passes. It was after all Sylvia’s home for many years of her childhood so it is fitting that like all ‘Wadgeians she has returned and brought her family with her.
I worked with Henry years ago. Well, again, kind of. We both worked for the CAP (community access program) back in the day. He, in Marathon, myself here through the Manitouwadge Public Library.
Then came Facebook… Like so many, we reconnected there and last year, thanks to Henry and his family, I was able to bring my kids to the Pic Mobert PowWow. I loved PowWows when I was younger and had dreamt of bringing Lloyd but the opportunity had never materialized until Henry’s invitation. I’m happy actually, that it’s something Lloyd & Emeraude were able to experience for the 1st time together.
Since then we have stayed in touch as much as possible. Henry & his family were living in White River, Emeraude & I had hoped to visit for Xander’s birthday in the fall but it didn’t work out, then I hoped to see them when they were here in town but that didn’t work out… Until…
A few weeks ago Lloyd tells me Henry’s called, then in my usual way, it took me a while to get back to him but finally an email said that he needed a house in Manitouwadge. WHAT??! They are moving to Manitouwadge? I was so excited. I hoped to help with the house and called the EDC but Henry was too fast, last week another call, they’ve found a house and will be living here by the weekend 🙂 SO cool. I don’t have time to make friends, being sick isn’t popular, nor is being a single Mom and as I mentioned, who has time. So, other than a few people I’ve known for years and the very occasional new acquaitance, there aren’t alot of people in town who I call to go out with or anything like that. Roger and Monique have their roots firmly set in RedRock soil and, although it is not in my character, I do make the occasional trip to see them (although even with them, who I love, I have not visited in nearly a year. I would like to say since the steroids stopped working but that isn’t the real problem, since my family doctor who arrived in Nov.08 decided I did not deserve to have any quality of life refused to offer me any options other than visiting the hospital every 4 hours, I have not been able to visit even them) Anyways, I digress. It is AWESOME that they are here!
Unfortunately, I am incredibly overwhelmed with being given the run around from the family doctor and trying to keep my head above water with too little time to write my articles. They came by Saturday just as Daniel was picking up Emeraude and I was hypnotized by my Relay for Life article that I had yet to complete so told them we would definetely go to the playground soon.
Last night, Emeraude & I were going to the park and she ased to call Xander. I helped her, Sylvia said they’d meet us @ Lion’s beach in 10minutes. We got dressed and on my way towards the door I saw the clock 19h30 and I was due for my injection at 20h00. I am left so immobile these days, regardless of the injections, thanks to inadequate dosing by my doctor that I hadn’t seen it sneaking up on me (I had been sitting of course, with my feet up as I can’t handle a whole lot more).
We arrived at the beach and I let Henry & Sylvia know what was going on (I felt like such a jerk). Sylvia said she’d watch Emeraude & Henry said he’d give me a ride (so thoughtful, I was so happy for Emeraude as she had been so looking forward to seeing Xander and it would have been such a disapointment had she needed to come with me to the hospital instead of staying behind to play.
We returned about 45 minutes later. The new baby, Dekkar, is barely a baby anymore! looks so much like big brother Xander (handsome!). Emeraude was having a good time. It was nice to catch up with them again, even if just for a little while. So happy they’ve moved here, looking forward to bringing Sylvia to the Family place (or more likely just going together as by the time I’m in shape to go she’ll have been many times already).
