2009 Camping Fun
We are really enjoying ourselves at White Lake (Provincial Park, outside of White River, Ontario, Canada). This week our friend Ashton who is visiting from Alberta (I think it’s alberta) is going to join us for a few days. She came camping with us their before and we have missed her alot so it will be nice. Lloyd has been awesome, camping with Mom and Sister might not have been in his top 5 choices for most wanted summer holiday (he’s 14 remember) but he is making the most of it and there have been many days that were just wonderful just thanks to him, his help, his attitude… I’ve been so proud of him many times this week.
Emeraude is loving every minute of it and defineteley worn out at the end of every day (and sometimes 1/2 way through the day. I’ve had the opportunity to work on Emeraude Exploring Collection editing the Post Office book and reviewing the Fire Station photos to brainstorm the story line.
I also had a few articles for the September issue of Michigan Snowmobiler which had to be edited and submitted as the deadline is the 31st and I really hoped to have them in well before then; well I sent one off with the accompanying photos this afternoon and the other doesn’t have much left to do. I’ve managed a couple articles though one is stuck at the township for approval but I hope to wrap that up early tomorrow morning.
I’ve taken literaly hundreds of photos but my laptop is still refusing to let me back anything up so have purchased an 8GB memory card when we were in Marathon last week for Emeraude’s dental appointment (it went awesome, I really liked Dr. Albus and his dental assistant, great chairside manner, and it turns out Emeraude did not have 5 cavities as I had first been told by another dentist – I found it hard to believe and am so relieved it was false) stopping at Canadian Tire knowing there would be some assistance for the laptop problem there.
This week I hope to do a little better writing my posts every night so that I will be able to post more easily when there is time. At least that is my plan but you know what they say about the best laid plans.
Emeraude (ok, Lloyd & I too) is missing Vickie alot (she’s vacationing with her family for the summer) and I was so thrilled to here her msg on my voice mail. It was typical Vickie, upbeat, funny, refreshing. It will be nice to swap photos & stories at the end of the summer when we’re both back home in Manitouwadge (at the same time, for more than a day!).
Must get back to work now. Would like to be finished all the articles that need to go whether it be to the Chronicle or Michigan Snowmobiler before tomorrow morning as then I could tackle the issue of finding snowmobile photos CD’s for a client purchasing advertising in the MichSnow. Not much time left for him to put together an add and if it were anyone else I would be panicked but he is uber-competent and so well suited to the job. Ads are no biggee to him having worked making them for large businesses in his other life pre-wadge.
Hope you are having a great summer, enjoying plenty of sunshine (there is finally some here now that we are too far from the beach to take advantage of it but I’m praying it will continue throughout the week as Emeraude & I need some beach & fishing time and I’d really like Lloyd to have a chance to have a good time with his friend while she is with us. Also hoping to play Yatzee with both of them 🙂 so might need a little rain just one night. LOL.
Will continue posting photos as I get my work done tonight for those of you who are interested. If you aren’t keep checking back & forth between posts as there will be articles in there.
OH YEAH.. .Almost forgot, the humaine society is having a silent auction/starving artist sale to raise funds at the beginning of August (I believe it’s the 7th at KG’s Bar & Lounge) and invited me to donate a print for bidding as well as offering me space to sell a few prints so I’m hoping there will be some interest in those I decide to bring. I’ll definetely have some way for people to look through and choose the school grad pics and Relay for Life photos they want prints of. Hope you can make it!
