Pictured is Chris Leduc, newly appointed District Administrator for the North Superior Snowmobile Association (NOSSA). NOSSA, or District 16 of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) encompasses 10 Snowmobile Clubs; Manitou Sno-Drifters, Thunder Bay Adventure Trails, Marathon Sno-Kickers, Hornepayne Snowmobile Club, White River Snow Bank Riders, Lake Superior Family Sno-Goers, Nipigon Bay Snowmobile Club, Longlac Snowmobile Club and Kenogamisis Snowmobile Club, from Thunder Bay to White River, Nakina and Hornepayne to the north and has moved their office to Manitouwadge.
NOSSA’s office moved this week from Nipigon to the Recreation Centre in Manitouwadge where Leduc resides. Among Leduc’s duties as district administrator; production of the district trail map, promotion and coordination of safety campaigns including the S.T.O.P. program and training & safety videos (available now at the new office), maintenance of the association website, promotion of the communities, businesses and snowmobile clubs within the district at trade shows and events in both Canada and the U.S, and coordination of trail permit sales through the individual clubs and at trade shows. The sale of trail permits generates funds for maintenance of snowmobile trails, through signage, grooming, brush cutting/removal in the warmer months and of course OFSC insurance for those riding the trails.
With more than 1 billion dollars of annual economic activity generated by OFSC
trails**, continued maintenance and promotion of these trails is obviously in the
best interest of all the communities served by NOSSA clubs.
