Turn off the Screens Week in Manitouwadge wrapped up Sunday with activities at the Perry Lake Trail sponsored by the Manitouwadge Conservation Club. Participants enjoyed a nature walk along the Ducks Unlimited trail guided by Conservation Club members, Marlene Turner and Tammie Hache, observing wildlife along the way.

MNR Biologist and Ducks Unlimited volunteer, Virginia Thompson, stopped the group at a small beached area providing everyone with nets to use as they waded carefully in the water collecting aquatic insect species. Thompson explained the importance of wetlands and of having a variety of species living within them, patiently answering many questions from both children and adults.  The afternoon ended with some fun quizzes from Thompson in regards to the wetland species she had elaborated on earlier, as well as prizes provided by the Conservation Club and packages which included posters, stickers, and wetland journals for all the kids from Ducks Unlimited Canada.
