Quiet & Craftime w/Birthday Gifts
I needed an activity that didn’t require any physical ability and very little cognitive ability (when I am in a lot of pain, it can be difficult to concentrate so activities that don’t have many rules or steps are great) and Emeraude received so many beautiful and educational gifts for her birthday we had plenty of new things to choose from…
I was just finishing up my article for the Firefighter’s challenge (this had become a never ending story as I had hoped to submit it early and then submit another about turn off the screens week but began running out of time and so started a new version which would talk about the entire week but feature the obstacle course as the main event to elaborate on… When I then realized there were still some really great activities to come; WELL, I had at this point decided to go with my original plan to write an article just about the obstacle course and then hope I could send an additional article or two about the rermainder of the week) SO meanwhile, Emeraude decided to play with a Winnie the Pooh book she recieved for her b-day.
It has bulky, easy to grasp magnetic characters which you arrange on any of the scenic pages. There are also storyline suggestions that we read over a bit when I had finished working and joined her but of course she preferred to just create her own stories, she does so with ease.
I finished up the article and joined her once again. She decided we would open her foam kit that Madelaine gave her (it also had $20 taped to the box!!! She was thilled and rightfully so 🙂 for her birthday. It is GREAT! there are a ton of foam peices, some with holes for sewing on to bracelets or necklaces (we did one of the latter), others that are flat for glueing (the kit also had precut foam door hangers to decorate & a foam picture frame), sequins and jewels and it even came with a plastic needle & ‘string’. I sat and enjoyed mostly watching (it is perfect for her age and so she didn’t require, or want, my help for much of it) as she made a necklace and then a door hanger. It was very enjoyable and I am looking forward to the next time we choose to work with it (there are a ton of peices left!)
The kit did not have a website listed, just 1-800-crayons as a contact for questions/comments (made in Canada from what I could tell 🙂 )
