New Talent in Manitouwadge
Emeraude & I had some trouble getting to the High School’s spring concert. They had a public performance Tuesday night which we missed as Emeraude was under the weather; then they performed at the Catholic School but Emerude still wasn’t feeling too well and ended up napping instead, finally, on Thursday, we made it to the concert they did at Manitouwadge Public School. It was worth the effort.
We arrived in time to hear the Juniors play, they had just begun their version of Ozzy Ozborne’s Crazy Train which was really great. Emeraude really enjoyed hearing them. I was impressed at the changes from when I was in band. Their band now includes a keyboard, bass and electric guitars – none of which were in our band although there were kids that played very well, the teacher just didn’t welcome them into music class as far as I recall. The music teacher conducting these kids seemed to really be enjoying himself and conecting with them.
After they were done, it was time for vocalist Erica Magson to perform. Wow! This young lady doesn’t just have a beautiful voice, she can use it. She was accompanied by a teacher on drums and another first on keyboard then guitar and by Tessa Lanteigne on electric bass guitar. It was a great performance, the public school kids (and teachers) went crazy with their applauds.
Emeraude really enjoyed all the music, as did I. I am very much looking forward to the next opportunity to hear them play and of course to hear Erica perform as it is not often that we have the chance to enjoy such performances in Manitouwage.
