Lion’s beach
Emeraude & I went to the Lion’s beach for a little play and to get more sand for her sand box. We sift the beach sand to make sure it’s clean, and to take out larger rocks and then cart it home. After yesterday’s additional sand, her sandbox is nearly full and I think a 3rd time will have it more than adequately filled.
When we arrived, her friend Gage from Nursery School was playing in the water, there with an aunt & uncle. Emeraude was thrilled not to be the only one there. I let her take off her sneakers and wade in but the water was very cold and I was thankful that she chose to put her shoes back on. We used her sand buckets to scoop some bugs and check them out. After the Perry Lake walk last Sunday, it seems like everywhere we look we see the stick bugs that Virginia Thompson taught us about, they are very cool and Emeraude was excited to show Gage and his aunt her find.
We called the waterfront activities a wrap for the night and went over to the playground equipment where I could work on sifting her sand as she played. She was just tickled to see another friend, Jonah, and his family arrive. She has always been particularly fond of he and his Mom and I couldn’t have arranged a better play date. She had a wonderful time, it was a great way to end a long, busy day.
We arrived home around 20h30, just enough time for me to give her a shower, read a story from her newest Chirp magazine (we signed up for 3 free issues from a cereal box promotion – too cool!), brother joined us for prayers and then took over for the lullabies as I headed to the hospital with Mom for what would be my final injection for the day (not going for injections through the night means that I am playing ‘catch up’ to get the pain under control in the morning but also that I’m avoiding cab fare so it is always a difficult decision).
We will probably be heading back to the beach at some point today, I just can’t resist and she loves when there are other people there which, with the sun shining bright, there will most likely be today.
