I try, when possible, to use what we have on hand for our experiments. We did have golden raisins & dried fruit which I think will do fine once we have new pop.

DANCING RAISINS – 1st Attempt

1033-04_06_2009Well, we gave this a try yesterday before nap time but did not have great results.  We were using Ginger Ale (have agreed that we need to buy some fresh pop and will try for one that is more clear such as 7up or sprite) that Lloyd had upstairs. The pop did have some fizz in it still but had originally been opened May 28th and I think that may have been part of the problem.

We used golden raisins and dried fruit. Only 2 of the golden raisins ever went up and then down again; one of the dried fruit pieces (these were quite large) went up but never back down. I chopped the dried fruit into smaller pieces eventually but it did not seem to help.

Today (June 5th) is a rainy day so we will pick up some fresh pop and make a 2nd attempt at this experiment, will post our results.

This is a really great and easy experiment that Emeraude will certianly get a kick out of (we might even get Lloyd’s attention for a few minutes I think). from http://www.stevespanglerscience.com where there are a ton of great experiments, and, many science supplies to purchase as well.

Read more at http://www.stevespanglersci… Who taught these raisins to dance, anyway? Go on—gather up some raisins, turn up the music, and get ready for a raisin romp. Just when you thought you we… “
