Homeschool – foodbank
The Manitouwadge Neighbour to Neighbour foodbank helps people in our community who are struggling with incomes that don’t fit themselves or their families. Many are on fixed incomes so that when costs increase, paying for town water, cold winters bring high heating bills, gas prices increase, their incomes DO NOT match these needs and if they pay their bills, their may not be enough left over for groceries… Those people could be my neighbour or my kids’ friends. There should not be hungry children in a town as friendly as Manitouwadge.
I believe that it is our responsibility – EVERYONE’s responsibility – to make sure the kids around us have their basic needs met. I also think that I have a responsibility to teach my children how lucky we are to have a roof, live in a safe and wonderful community, we have plenty of food, a vehicle and many many extras and if we are grateful we should share. This morning Emeraude had Nursery School, she had a wonderful time. Lloyd brought her and picked her up as I was having a lot of difficulty getting around (bone pain) which was really helpful and fun for Emeraude as well. This afternoon for homeschooling in stead of any book work we decided to make Rice Krispie squares for the food bank. We had a alot of fun, deciding to make a 2nd batch with some variations. She loves to lick the sticky-gewy spoon and both of us were covered with milk chocolate after making our 2nd batch lol. Lloyd even pitched in to help cut the 2nd batch, that was hard though with his cast. Sunday they’ll be taking it off, I hope his wrist/hand is ok, I think it should be healed and it doesn’t hurt him any more thank goodness.
What you’ll need:
- 5 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract the real stuff is better than artificial
- One bag (450g) marshmallows
- tablespoon margarine + extra to coat pan
- 1 bag milk chocolate chips
Our 2nd batch also included
What to do:
YUM YUM YUM!
