Fishing Excursion

The weather network predicted sunny skies and warm weather Wenesday, May 20th and so we planned to go fishing at the Geco bridge after Lloyd was out of school. My ride to the hospital for my 14h30 injection forgot me unfortunately so it was 15h15 before I was even on my way to the hospital.

While I went, Lloyd worked at getting a fishing rod set up for Emeraude as we are not sure what has happened to her real fishing rod (Grandmaman & Grandpapa bought her a beautiful little rod for her 2nd birthday which seems to be missing). By the time I returned home the kids had all our gear ready and we left immediately worried that we were running out of time.

0319-20_05_2009We stopped at the Petro-Can on our way out for gas and surprised the kids with soft ice cream while there (best in town!), a very welcome treat for the three of us with the temperature at that time up to  +25  (and of course hotter yet in the van which doesn’t have air conditioning).

It was beautiful next to the lake. There was a huge wind blowing, Lloyd commented on the waves which were surprisingly large for Manitouwadge Lake.  It was a short trip, by the time we were finally there we could only stay for just over an hour, but well worth it. Lloyd and I casted, letting Emeraude reel in then Lloyd fished a bit with his own rod.  Emeraude  also tried using her bug net (we had forgotten our fishing nets which probably wouldn’t have worked for leaches anyways as the mesh is much bigger) to find minnows or leaches but had no luck.

We returned home & Lloyd made a quick supper for he & Emeraude then left for volleyball practice.  I gave Emeraude her shower, put her in pj’s then called a cab for yet another trip to the hospital. She enjoyed herself quite a bit while there as Nurse Rhona was working the ER and she & Emeraude always enjoy seeing each other, Emeraude gave her one of her trading cards from figure skating and Rhona gave her some stickers which she was thrilled about.

I can’t wait until warm weather is more of the norm, I had to lay down aftere fishing as the heat had done me in and my legs did not want to hold me up anymore (weakness) but it was still SO nice to enjoy some sunshine and warm weather for a day.
