only Lloyd can make Emeraude laugh like this!

The evening before Lloyd was to leave for Geraldton and the NSSSAA Badminton finals, the three of us went to play at the Lion’s beach. I needed to stop by the hospital first for a dilaudid injection and the kids went by the cafeteria for some sandwhiches in the meantime. After eating they headed outside to see if there was anything left of the ‘house’ Lloyd had built for Emeraude in the snowbank about three weeks prior. They played in the creek enjoying the current and seeing everything thaw, Emeraude is so curious and Lloyd loves to share his knowledge of the outdoors with her.

We brought Emeraude’s new boomarang (from Grandmaman & Gradpapa’s easter basket loot for her) as well as a bottle of bubbles to the Lion’s beach with us but they didn’t get much play. We spent a lot of time at the slides – this was hilarious as Emearude of course wanted Lloyd sliding as well but he is so tall, the straight slide isn’t much longer than him and on the curly slide, his body really takes a beating as he gets twisted being in two corners at once which of course turn in opposite directions! What a blast.

We spent even more time on the swings as one was the perfect height for Emeraude to get on herself with the snow raising the ground for her and the other was still would around the pole they hang from making it the right height for Lloyd. He showed off for us, really impressing his sister and just making me nervous. It is great to see just how much she trusts him, Emeraude began feeling weary of swinging last summer (until then she could never go high or fast enough) which made it that much more impressive when she kept asking to sit on Lloyd so he could pump them so hard they were up side down (check out the photos, it’s hard to see her when she is on him but you can spot little glimpses of her yellow splash/rain suit.

Lloyd and I explored the beach. He walked out a little further than I like as the lake is quickly thawing and has a lot of open water visible through the ice on the beach but no further out than about knee deep water had he broken through (he knew that there wasn’t much I could’ve done to get him out and so kept his wandering within a safe distance).

Emeraude never stopped swinging in the meantime and so called us back before long. This is when Lloyd really got crazy. I will never forget the sounds of that night. He would give her a few pushes and then stand in front of her so that when she put her little legs up in the air he had her believing she was kicking him over – she laughed SO hard! (as did we) The kind of laugh little ones get where they can’t even speak any more for trying to catch their breath between giggles – awesome! I just kept saying little prayers in my head, thanking God for the wonderful blessing that are my healthy children.
