Pinata Progresion
Well, it’s been quite a bit of work but we are finally done! Yesterday Emeraude & I cut a ‘door’ into the pinata & filled it with the goodies bags we had made for her friends. We then taped the door shut and papier maché’d over that so it would be smooth for painting. we did a final coat using opened up white napkins (so they were only 1 ply) to help give a better base for painting.
Last night Emeraude painted the whole thing with 2 coats of blue. Then later in the middle of the night when that had dried I added spots (she had described to me what she wanted earlier in the day and I tried to do it just how she had hoped) which, by morning were dry.
This morning, I realized that as we had not been to figure skating on
Tuesday, we had neither her wagon nor her bat (they were used for the carnival on the weekend)the latter being quite important for pinata smashing! Lloyd remembered he had a steel bat in the garage but unfortunately when he went to get it thought it would be much too heavy for the little ones to swing. So, without wasting a second, he went to work cutting & sanding a ‘bat’ for Emeraude to bring to school (basically a 3×3 peice of lumber that he sanded to avoid splinters and then added tape around one end to really make it safe for them to grasp). What a sweetheart, his efforts were not wasted on Emeraude who was very appreciative and proud of her brother telling everyone at school when I dropped her off that “Brother made us a bat!”.
