Long day… April 15th
New Locum, Old Problems…
This all happened yesterday, interrupting what was a great day for Emeraude & I. Lloyd was still in Geraldton and I was doing everything I could do make the day really special and distract her from missing brother. I am just praying that my IV Solumedrol treatment won’t be delayed just to humour this locum. I hope to receive it on Friday as Lloyd will be back to help so, prayers welcome that it stays on track (I am absolutely swamped with work this weekend and have no time for nonsense or being unnecessarily fatigued or any of the other symptoms that could be reduced with the steroids)
Pre-school Progress
In the morning she had the ‘Early Intervention something or other” a program for preschool kids (pre-k identification of any problems the parents should be finding help for) at the rec centre auditorium. There were different groups/organizations who had collaborated together, setting up little stations where they addressed certain issues (nutrition, dental – Dental assistant Joyce was there which Emeraude found neat, speech, etc… Also, the family place had a station more for information purposes but Kelly of course had neat things to play with and made it one of Emeraude’s favourites). It was interesting for me but could have integrated more play into most of the tables for Emeraude to enjoy it. Claire Milks (sk olol I think) was volunteering at a station that had a bit of play and Emeraude just loved her! When I was trying to get her coat on to leave, she kept asking to go back and see Mrs. Milks lol (later in the afternoon we learned that Emeraude won the door prize!)
After that we had dropped the van off at P&J’s Truck & Auto Repair to be fixed. For weeks I had been putting this off, when I had it back and received the bill which was super-reasonable as usual (they are always very affordable!) I wondered why I had bothered to put it off – so silly! anyways, Paul jumped in and dropped us off at the hospital. I needed to get some meds for pain (dilaudid injection) as my bones and joints were absolutely excruciating. Mrs. Ormston (lived across the street from me my whole childhood, one of her sons & his wife are raising their family in Manitouwadge, great people; I played with both of her sons growing up and always loved her… she was the avon lady and was the first person to ever do my nails lol) was also in the waiting room and began playing with Emeraude immediately. The emerg was very busy and so we were waiting a while. When I finally got called in Mrs. Ormston had completely won Emeraude over (this is very unusual as Emeraude is quite shy with strangers, never even talks to ppl usually until she has met them on several different occasions but Mrs. O has a special way with kids; gets down at their level to speak, plays according to their rules, listens when they speak and speaks to them like real ppl, just wonderful) and she (E) had no interest in accompanying me lol. Mrs. Ormston said she didn’t mind her staying with her to play and I knew this was sincere and that she was in great hands so let Emeraude stay with her having fun… I was quite some time (at least 25 minutes, probably more!) yet when I came out they were still having a blast and Mrs. O clearly would have continued playing with her indefinitely, not in any hurry to have her leave (so nice for Emeraude!!). We followed her on our way out and she invited Emeraude to come see her dog as she was going to roll down her van windows for him.
Playing in Puddles…
We walked downtown and went to the Rendez-vous for lunch. It is always so nice there, great, friendly service and always special touches for Emeraude. We took our time and then continued our walk towards home. The weather was amazing, sun shining brightly with +14 degree temps. Many puddles that could be jumped into and Emeraude made plans for a later walk.
After a little rest, snack and a wardrobe change (we both needed shorts as it was now even hotter) we headed back out, planning to go by the van (I had been called that it was already ready! woohoo) then go by the hospital for me, we would have supper at the cafeteria (with Lloyd still gone we were being a little indulgent and the caf has good healthy food anyways) before we would return to the mechanic’s and get a ride home (they are always happy to do this so I knew it wouldn’t be a problem.
The problem came when we made it to the hospital… I wished afterwards that I hadn’t rushed Emeraude during our walk (not lots but I did postpone puddles to a later that never came thanks to the locum as I thought we could get everything completed while the garage was still open and therefore have a driver if needed) as it wasn’t necessary at all – we just ended up sitting in an exam room for hours. Emeraude was an absolute angel though! (Thank you Lord for my patient children) never once complaining about the wait or that by the end of it she was an hour passed supper with none in sight as the caf had now closed and when the locum came in to have a pointless annoying discussion (more like some kind of speech?) with me she never interrupted and was so polite!
Thankful for many blessings…
Our day was never the less amazing and wonderful and really fun. The photos, I believe, speak for themselves and explain our walks better than I could writing about them 🙂 THANK YOU LORD for so many blessings in my day and my sweet, considerate, thoughtful, funny, healthy, beautiful daughter (for my son too but others were enjoying him on this day lol)
THANK YOU EMERAUDE for a wonderful day, THANK YOU MRS.ORMSTON for making Emeraude’s day more special and fun, THANK YOU P&J’s for being so accommodating and thanks to the nurses of course too.
