Living with MS
Well, I think it’s time for another IV Solumedrol treatment. Sunday I went for my first dilaudid injection in weeks (since the last steroid treatment at the end of March) and I have returned again yesterday and then again today. I have a lot of bone and joint pain and am feeling fatigue, having trouble keeping up with just regular daily activities.
Timing couldn’t be worse, wait… it can always be worse lol. Let’s just say timing is quite dificult. I volunteered to provide the EDC with photos for the township’s new website and should be going through stacks of disks (finding some of those stacks is going to be a chore in and of itself) getting them together but have not begun yet. I spoke with the Post Master today and WOOHOOO! we got a green light on that book and hope to be doing our visit & shoot late next week. The Mason’s chip identification program is in Manitouwadge this Saturday and I hope to cover it for the Chronicle as well as hopefully getting the Wolverine’s (high School) badminton team’s NSSSAA experience in Geraldton in to them as well…Tomorrow morning Emeraude has an appointment with the Early Intervention Program, this is for kids’ going into kindergarten (or kids like Emeraude who are of the age but homeschooling) to identify any special challenges they might have. The list goes on, let’s just say I have a very busy couple weeks ahead of me and can’t afford to be spending time arguing with doctors (hopefully this won’t be necessary and I can just get my treatment done without any problems) or dragging my feet with fatigue.
I am SOOOO happy that the Post Office is a go for Emeraude Exploring. I am a little stumped though with the post master advising me today she did not want to be in the photos (she is really beautiful but I guess still shy). This is an interesting curve ball as the whole point of the visit is the fact that the post master is a woman (pretty young as well for being so accomplished – WOW) and so it will be tricky to do the book without her. I am really hoping she will change her mind and am not quite certain how to convince her otherwise I will have to get clever and figure out a way around it – it’s all good, just a little challenge to figure out (nothing worth having comes easy right so it just makes our collection that much more meaningful in the end).
One big dissapointment, the only female doctor at our clinic had her secretary call me this morning (would’ve appreciated speaking to her personally, but that just proves her point that she is swamped) to decline our request for an appointment. This means the next stop for trying to find a female doctor may have to be at Marathon’s clinic and hope there is a female doctor there willing to give Emeraude an appointment we can photograph and use in Emeraude Exploring. The secretary passed along a message that she is very busy, which made me wish I could have spoken to her personally because I think she may have thought there would be alot of follow-up necessary since it’s for a book but it really should just be the regular check-up, which I think would be about an hour so…
I had worried that she might not be available or perhaps interestd (I do realize that this type of project isn’t for every one) but am not losing hope completely… I think I may hold off on chasing a doctor at Wilson Memorial. Perhaps in the summer or fall she will have more time available, or I will have an opportunity to speak with her in person to explain our project more clearly… Like the post master, it was a nice bonus that she is very pretty (obviously this is a bonus when the books are photographic, it just makes them that much more appealing to have beautiful faces in them) and having children in her life I think the ‘role model’ factor may appeal to her if I get a chance to explain, some time in the future.
In the meantime, we have the post office, fire fighter and possibly a few other books in the collection we can focus on for at least a couple months while hoping her agenda becomes less congested at some point (our town has a population of 2000 with only 3 regular doctors so, it’s easy to do the math and understand they are swamped!!!!!)
GOOD NEWS – the Fire Marshall is being very helpful and encouraging and I think we can realistically expect to be doing that visit in the next 3 weeks or so and that’s exciting progress.
