March Break – Gardening
Emeraude & I began our gardening today (March 16,09). Last year we started all the veggies & flowers early indoors as well but I got over eager and we transplanted them outside too early – they froze and her beautiful healthy plants were mostly demolished (check my facebook page or hers to see the ones that made it, there were some, sunflowers, radishes, carrots). I will not get caught like that again. I promised her we will be waiting until it is VERY safe to transplant them outside lol
We spent quite a bit of time making our sings (little business card size card stock on pogo sticks to label the different things we planted) and it was alot of fun. She was the boss and told me which we were doing next, I would draw a picture of the veggie and write it’s name on the front and then she had told me to write the date and our names on the back of them all; she then coloured the pictures and added her own ‘writing’ on the backs of most (alot of E’s (lower case though) and H’s plus some exclamation marks she is so fond of); after we had done them all, we added sparkles (thanks again Nonnie Keri) because everything is better with sparkles of course!
We set up on the kitchen counter and had alot of fun pouring soil into a big glass bowl, then spooning it into the trays; opening each seed bag (we did a 9 square for each type) pouring some into a bowl, planting the seeds then adding soil again and of course not forgetting after each to add our ‘signs’. It was a wonderful activity and we both loved it. We have tons left to do (didn’t even start the flowers and have at least twice as much left to do of the veggies) for which I am very thankful and looking forward to the time :).
hoping these photos are pretty self-explanitory (if not, post me your questions) as it is late and I must get to sleep… 5:30am hospital for injection and tomorrow I have lunch with Donna Jaunzarins (wish Karin was able to join us too – maybe I’ll explain the lunch & it’s topics in a post tomorrow night) Mike Brown I’m looking forward to.
…wondering where Lloyd was in all this? He has spent the last 2 afternoons going into Macutagen on his sled with a friend (two today i think) packing down the trail in the hopes of bringing myself & his sister for a lunch at least (maybe even overnight if I could get my symptoms somewhat under control). Well, those are his official reasons, I think he’s mostly just loving having a destination and purpose in his ride and the freedom during his break – he certainly deserves the time to himself and fun on his sled 😉 I’m happy he’s getting the opportunity to do it.
