Lunch with MPP, Mike Brown
Town Councilor and friend Donna Jaunzarins had msg’d me a few days prior to invite me to lunch with Mike Brown, MPP Algoma-Manitoulin (the provincial riding Manitouwadge is in) it sounded like a great opportunity because I had been rolling an idea around in my head for Mike to host an ATV ride out of Manitouwadge this spring or summer (his annual Sno-Tour a familiarization ride for politicians was cancelled this year) which Karin Robinson from the EDC was happy about (I hoped she would come but could not make it having prior commitments) and I also thought it might become an article for the Chronicle Journal which I’m always keep an ear to the ground for.
I hadn’t realized it was a formal lunch or that there would be such an eclectic group of people in attendance and has to say a little prayer of thanks as I walked in, grateful that my dress atire was appropriate and in following what the others were wearing. I hadn’t seen Mike since last summer and welcomed a big hug as he greated me. Too bad Tom Farquhar wasn’t with him but he did have his executive assistant, Wendy Ground and she was very helpful later with details of some of the announcements he made (thanks Wendy!).
Also in attendance were Donna Jaunzarins, Twp Councilor; GG & Othello Jones, teachers & constituents; Owen Cranny, Fire Chief; Randy Mattson, twp director of leisure services; Sheldon Plumber, constituent, John MacEachern, mayor & myself. The company was great, I was able to get the ATV idea into Mike’s head and had some laughs as well – thanks Mike!
After lunch I was overdue for pain meds but when I went by the emerg it was totally crazy so I raced (my version of racing of course which involves alot of moaning and a cab haha) home to enjoy some gardening with Emeraude before heading to the municipal office to get press releases relevant to the day from Wendy, Mike’s executive assistant and then raced to the hospital which was by then uncongested and receivced my injection before getting home to get to work on my article & supper. Poor Lloyd spent most of the day resting with strep (he finally got his prescription around supper) on the couch – something that isn’t seen often here!
