Sledding + IVIg = big week
Well, it’s Ontario Family Day today and I am grateful to be well enough to attempt a day of skiing but after last week’s IVIg quite dissapointed not to be in better shape…
Tuesday, the ISMC (International Snowmobile Media Council – yes I am a member) came through as part of their media tour around the Superior Snow Challenge Loop that had been put together with Wawa (click here to read my official article about the afternoon) and Karin Robinson (our economic development assistant) being the great lady she is had given me a heads up and the opportunity to cover the event. Lloyd took the day off school and Shirley came to hang out with Emeraude.
Lloyd and I went out to meet the group on the “A” trail north just outside of town to ensure they would make it to the clubhouse without any trouble. The lunch at the clubhouse was nice although afterwards I was more than a little dissapointed with myself. I have always been good at directing a room for necessary photographs and this day I certainly was not myself, failing to get a group photo (how could I forget a photo with the woman who thought of including me especially since I know well enough that no one else would have had the thought to do so in spite of my connections to snowmobiling magazines and the press I have succeeded in gettting the township in the past – but I did 🙁 ), did not get a good one of our mayor and their reps… But that’s water under the bridge now and will NOT happen again no matter how ill I am – next time I will have a list and not depend on my brain in such important situations lol… I posted all the photos with the real article (click here) for those who are interested.
I was VERY happy with Lloyd and am seriously considering what an asset he would be on any future rides/events. He is a great sledder, has a wonderful sense of direction and figured out where we needed to be without any incident (I would NOT have found them without him) and wrapped things up nicely riding them out again towards the D110 (or it may have been the D109). I was quite proud of him and am thinking very hard about what we might cover this spring/summer/fall in the way of fourwheeling.
